2020 Reunion News -- Cancelled

The 2020 Reunion, originally scheduled for Sept. 26, has been cancelled. The following note was posted to the Facebook page by Jay Smith & the Reunion Committee on July 2.

Good Afternoon Fellow Classmates and Friends. I am posting to announce that the Reunion Committee has met and the decision has been made to cancel our 45th Reunion, which was planned for September 26th. Due to the uncertainty of the current Covid-19 Pandemic. Our age group and the fact that some of us have health issues that place us at a higher risk. If things work out, We will try to reschedule for September 2021.

We have also come up with some ideas of smaller gatherings next year and possibly each year till our 50th in 2025. One of the best so far is a Northwest Park function in April or May of 2021. Other options are restaurants with large outdoor seating areas. If anyone has an idea to contribute just let us know.

We will be sending out a "Save the Thought" card with the plans. It will also have the link to Jim Witherspoons online doc to update your information. For those of you who know others that are not here on the Face Book Group, be sure and let them know to get their contact info updated soon. Please everyone stay in touch for new updates. We are past ready to see all you great people so we can talk about old times and new.

2019 News

Scholarship Team
We will be meeting mid September to coordinate efforts for the 2020 Senior Class MAC '75 Legacy Scholarship recipients.  Please notify Rhonda Rose @ 512-266-1086 or RRSURGICAL1@AOL.COM  if you are interested in this endeavor.  In the first year (2018) we were able to award 4 scholarships for $250 each.  Second year we were able to hand out 4 scholarships @ $500   We have heard back from these students and they were still thankful for our confidence in them and their future.  It was a lot of fun roaming the halls after we awarded the scholarship certificates to each student.  MANY photo ops.

20/20 Reunion News:

We will be meeting at Dart Bowl on Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. to start tossing around more concrete ideas!

Jay Smith and others have secured our spot at Balcones Country Club, Sept. 26, 2020 for the 45th Annual Meetup of the MAC KNIGHTS of 1975.

We might revive our Tiaras?,  '70s clothes? Cafeteria goodies?  Who knows!    Please mark you calendars to attend the reunion...  There is a surprise or two for ya!

2018 News

The current Mac 75 Legacy Scholarship committee has been meeting for over a year now.  We started our funding efforts because of the generous donation from the 40th reunion Committee.  We felt as a class, we should be facilitating MAC student futures and promoting our own wonderful class in the process.  We also wanted to honor our deceased classmates.  So the following developed.
After the 40th reunion in 2015, our class not only gifted funds to the MAC performing band to go to Carnegie hall that year, we offered a scholarship to the MAC Boosters. (President was our classmate's son  Brandon Faught!)  In addition we gifted funds to the general teacher account to purchase needed supplies in the classroom.
This year, the scholarships were opened up to the  graduating seniors and we worked with AVID.  Advanced via Individual Determination program, a college preparation program open to students in grades 9th, 10th and 11th.  This is an academic support program that prepares students for college eligibility and success.  Students had to submit a resume and complete a general application.  We had 10 applicants in 2018.   Because of the donations towards our MAC '75 LegacyProgram... we were able to offer 4 scholarships.  4 seniors who are entering higher learning institutions for Nursing, AthleticTraining/Counseling, Government/Marketing and Electrical Engineering.
Representatives of the scholarship committee were able to meet with the students directly in class to surprise them with the awards. We regaled them with tales of the '70s.  I'm not sure they understood all the references but they were amused & appreciative.  They still have the bowling class at Dart Bowl and we learned the same chemistry teacher is still teaching!  We toured the school again and even got caught up in the halls at class change.  (It hasn't changed any!)
Thank you so much for the time and effort this committee has spent making sure the donations towards the scholarships were well spent on determined applicants.  We will be back at it again very soon to push towards next years scholarships.  If you are so inclined, please take a moment and contribute to this wonderful cause.
Currently, checks can be sent to Celia Amey 1009 Pine Creek DrivePflugerville, TX 78660
In the future, we will have additional options for donation submissions.
Again,  such an honor to work with these classmates to continue making a difference in the lives of our fellow MAC legacies. What an honor and a privilege to continue this endeavor!  You can't even imagine what a difference we are making.
